Voxt: AI Transcribe & Summary ("Voxt", "the app") is published by Anil Kurdal ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. Questions: anilkurdal@gmail.com.
1. Data we handle
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Anonymous device-based ID. A random-looking identifier derived from your device. It is not your name, email or phone number. | Links your minute balance, history and subscription status to your installation. |
| Audio, video and files you upload for cloud transcription (and their file name, type and duration). | To transcribe them. Uploaded to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. |
| Transcripts, summaries, translations and chat messages created from your files or typed text. | To show your results and history, and to answer your questions about a transcript. |
| Video links you paste for analysis. | To fetch the transcript or content for the feature you requested. |
| Push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push) and platform. | To notify you when a transcription finishes. |
| Purchase and subscription status (via RevenueCat and the App Store / Google Play). We never see your card or payment details. | To unlock Pro and grant minutes, and to restore purchases. |
| Usage analytics and crash/diagnostic data (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Remote Config): app events, device model, OS version, app version, crash traces. | To understand usage, fix bugs and tune the app. |
| Advertising data (Google AdMob) in the free version: advertising ID, approximate location derived from IP, ad interactions. | To show ads and rewarded ads. In the EEA, UK and similar regions we show a consent prompt (Google UMP) first, and you can reset your advertising ID in your device settings. |
| Microphone input for live dictation. | Live dictation uses your operating system's speech recognition (Apple or Google), subject to their privacy policies. |
2. Who processes your data
- Amazon Web Services (S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, Step Functions, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Translate), region US East (N. Virginia): storage and processing.
- OpenAI: speech-to-text (Whisper) and text models used for summaries, translations and chat. Audio and transcript text are sent to OpenAI through its API. According to OpenAI's API data policy, API inputs are not used to train its models by default.
- RevenueCat: subscription management and entitlement verification.
- Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, AdMob) and Apple (App Store, push notifications).
These providers act as our processors or as independent controllers under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data or your audio and transcripts, and we do not use them for advertising.
3. How long we keep data
- Uploaded audio/video files and processing chunks: automatically deleted from our storage 90 days after upload.
- Transcripts, summaries and chat history: kept so you can reopen your history, until you ask us to delete them.
- Balance, subscription status and anonymous ID: kept while the app is in use.
- Server logs: 30 days. Database backups: up to 35 days.
- Analytics, crash and ad data: retained by Google according to its settings and policies.
4. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or object to its processing, by emailing anilkurdal@gmail.com. Because Voxt has no accounts, we may ask for information from your app (such as the approximate dates you used it) to find your records, and we reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA) you have additional statutory rights, which we honour. You can also disable push notifications in system settings, limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID in system settings, or stop all processing by not uploading files or by uninstalling the app.
5. Security
Data is transferred over HTTPS, stored in access-controlled AWS resources and protected by per-user ownership checks. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid uploading highly sensitive recordings unless necessary.
6. International transfers
Our servers and our AI providers are mainly in the United States. By using cloud features you understand your data is transferred and processed there.
7. Children
Voxt is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
8. Recording and others' privacy
You are responsible for having the right (and any consent legally required from other people) to record or upload the audio you process with Voxt.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date above shows the latest version; significant changes will be highlighted in the app or its store listing.
